Travis Scott's Grandma Had Him Read The Odyssey Years Before His Role In The Movie
Almost everyone has ignored a school assignment at some point, but Travis Scott’s forgotten homework ended up becoming one of the craziest full circle moments of his life. Years before appearing in a major film adaptation of The Odyssey, the rapper was supposed to read the ancient story because of an assignment from his grandmother.
Scott revealed that his paternal grandmother Bernice Webster, who worked as an English professor, gave him the classic poem as part of his summer reading. Instead of finishing the book, he admitted he used a shortcut for the essay and got in trouble after she realized he never actually read it.
Now Scott is starring in Christopher Nolan’s version of The Odyssey as a bard, a role his grandmother finds almost impossible to believe. He plans to celebrate the movie by bringing his family to a private theater showing, turning the assignment he once avoided into a memory they will never forget.
