Caroline Hurricanes Have Won The 2026 Stanley Cup

Carolina Hurricanes defeated Vegas Golden Knights 3–0 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final to win their second championship in franchise history and their first in 20 years. The win sealed the series and capped a 16–3 playoff run, one of the best records since the NHL expanded to four-round best-of-seven series.

Taylor Hall opened the scoring just 3:47 into the game on a breakaway, finishing the playoffs with seven goals. Jackson Blake also scored his seventh of the postseason, while Logan Stankoven recorded an assist on the play. Carolina’s top contributors in the Final came largely from its depth scoring, with that second line combining for a major share of the team’s offensive output across the series.

Goaltending was the defining factor in the clinching game. Brandon Bussi made 22 saves to earn the shutout, becoming only the third first-year goalie in NHL history to post a Cup-clinching shutout. Defensively, Carolina held Vegas without a shot for nearly 19 straight minutes between the second and third periods, limiting chances for key Vegas players including Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner.

Jordan Staal won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP at age 37 years and 277 days, making him the oldest player to ever receive the award. He scored in each of the first five games of the Final and finished with six goals in the series, while also leading strong faceoff numbers at 69 percent.

Head coach Rod Brind'Amour added another milestone by winning the Stanley Cup both as a player (2006) and as a coach, placing him among a small group in NHL history to achieve that. The Hurricanes’ run was built on depth, structured defense, and consistent goaltending rather than reliance on a single superstar scorer.
